A budget app without bank login
Budgeting without handing over your bank login
Many budgeting apps begin by asking you to connect your bank. That is convenient where your bank is supported and you are comfortable with it. Finox works the other way: you enter the numbers, and it never asks for a login. Here is what each approach gives you and what it costs you.
Two ways to keep a budget
| Two ways to keep a budget | Finox Personal | An app that connects to your bank |
|---|---|---|
| How transactions get in | You enter them. About 20 seconds each, and recurring ones are confirmed with one tap. | Pulled in from your bank through a data provider. You review them and correct the categories. |
| What you hand over | An email address. No bank login, ever. | Ongoing access to your account data, usually through a third-party data provider. |
| Where it works | With any bank, wallet or cash, in 38 currencies. | Where the data provider supports your bank. Coverage is widest in North America and parts of Europe. |
| Cash, mobile wallets and deposits | Entered the same way as everything else, so the picture is complete. | Often entered by hand anyway, because a bank connection does not see them. |
| Loans, EMIs and savings schemes | Built in, with schedules, reminders and maturity dates. | Depends on the app. |
| When something goes wrong | There is no connection to break. If a number is wrong, you typed it and you can fix it. | A connection can drop and need linking again, and duplicates or missing items need checking. |
| Knowing your own spending | You see every transaction once, as you enter it. | Easy to stop looking, because it all arrives without you. |
| Price | $39.99 a year or $4.99 a month until 31 December 2026. Regular price $55.99 and $6.99. Free for the first 14 days, no card. | Varies by app. Check the current price on the app’s own site. |
When connecting your bank is the better choice
- Your bank is supported, and you want transactions to arrive without typing them. That is the point of bank sync, and Finox does not do it.
- You make dozens of card payments a week and know you will not enter them by hand.
- Nearly all your money moves through one or two bank accounts and cards, with little cash.
- You want an app from the app stores today. Finox runs in the browser on any phone, but has no native app yet.
When Finox is the better choice
- Your bank is not on any sync list, which is common outside North America and Europe.
- You are not comfortable giving a third party ongoing access to your bank account.
- Much of your money is in cash, mobile wallets, fixed deposits or savings schemes that a bank connection never sees.
- You want loans, EMIs, deposits and net worth beside the budget, in your own currency.
- You would rather not pay for bank connections you cannot use.

Frequently asked questions
Two reasons. Connecting a bank means giving a third party ongoing access to your account data, and many people would rather not. And bank connections only exist for some banks in some countries. By leaving them out, Finox works the same way for everyone, with any bank, wallet or cash.
A transaction takes about 20 seconds. Rent, salary and subscriptions are set up once as recurring transactions and confirmed with one tap when they fall due. If you make many small payments every day it does add up, and that is the case where a bank-sync app may suit you better.
Finox never has your bank credentials, so there are none for it to lose. What you enter is encrypted in transit and at rest, is never sold or shared with third parties, and can be exported or deleted whenever you like.
Finox supports 38 currencies across Asia, the Middle East, Europe, the Americas, Oceania and Africa. Because nothing depends on a bank connection, it does not matter which bank you use.
There is no import tool at the moment. You start by entering your accounts and their current balances, then record transactions from that day forward.
You choose a plan to continue. No card is taken when you start, so nothing is charged unless you subscribe. If you decide not to, your data is kept for 30 days.
